[private].[/private]Giveaway sites are yet another underrated method of building your list quickly. I would not personally rely on giveaway sites as my one and only list building strategy, but it’s foolish to completely dismiss this option when you’re first getting started.

Let me explain exactly how giveaway sites work and how you can get started using this list building method.

Giveaway sites are all based on referrals. There are two types of people who will participate in these giveaways: the contributor and the gift-getter (for lack of a better term).

Sometimes the contributors are also gift-getters and vice versa.

So let me take you through the process in the eyes of a giveaway site contributor:

Step 1.) The contributor is invited to participate in the giveaway by the giveaway host or another contributor.

Step 2.) The contributor is then encouraged to invite other marketers to become contributors and is awarded credits or points for each additional contributor he successfully gets to join the giveaway.

Step 3.) The contributor chooses one of his own products to giveaway and uploads enters some details about the product itself and usually includes a cover image of the product as well.

Step 4.) Once the giveaway goes “live” the contributor begins inviting gift-getters to come sign up for the giveaway and download the free gifts from all of the contributors.

The more gift-getters and additional contributors that a contributor successfully refers to the site, the more points or credits they are awarded. The contributor’s gift will move up in rank, closer to the top of the list of gifts, according to how many credits or points he has scored by referring people (gift-getters and contributors) to the giveaway.

The closer your gift gets to the top of the list the more people who will see it, which will result in getting you more opt-ins since every gift-getter who decides they want YOUR gift must opt-in to your list in order to get it!

I understand it’s a bit confusing how it all works. The best way to figure it out is to participate in a giveaway as soon as possible. I know that I personally learn fastest by doing and I bet you’ll have the same experience.

Giveaways always seemed so complicated to me until I started participating in them and then I saw how easy it was to add lots of leads to my opt-in list with minimal effort.
