Have you been bit by the "Twitter" bug too?

I recently signed up for an account on Twitter.com and am already finding myself fascinated at how a seemingly silly concept can catch on like wildfire. There’s even already newsworthy stories bouncing around the net talking up the unexpected benefits of being a loyal Twitter user.

The way Twitter works is quite simple. Any time you post a message to your Twitter profile it’s known as a “Tweet.” Twitter takes a new concept known as “Micro-blogging” and basically adds a few new twists or two . . .

One great & very unique aspect of Twitter is the number of ways you can stay connected & Tweeting. You can Tweet not only by logging into the Twitter website, but also by sending SMS text message from your mobile phone, through certain instant messengers, & even through some of the unique gadgets, widgets, & other custom applications designed by third party programmers using the Twitter API.

Have you been bit by the "Twitter" bug too?

Twitter is all about HYPER inner-connectedness. By posting these “micro-blog” entries to your Twitter account, you can stay in touch with friends who ordinarily wouldn’t be kept up to speed on the latest happenings of your day-to-day life. You can also use Twitter as a great communication tool as in the case of a United States college journalism student who was arrested by Egyptian authorities. This student started “Tweeting” from his cell phone throughout the day of his Egyptian arrest ordeal and found that his Twitter followers had a major contribution in getting him out of the clink in a very timely manner!

For marketing purposes Twitter is a great new concept because it allows your followers an even closer look at the day to day happenings of your business which is a great trust building tool. In addition to building trust by keeping yourself & your business out in the open for all to see, you’ll also be able to casually post URL’s in your tweets. This will allow you to use Twitter as a method of keeping your readers coming back to your sites for more.

So I leave you with two Twitter tips:

Follow anyone who follows you.

Shorten the URL’s you post to Twitter because you only get 140 characters for each entry.

Check out the PFG tool for saving characters on your URL’s and make sure you take advantage of this cool new website.

Here’s my Twitter profile, feel free to follow me and I’ll be happy to return the favor:
